Sportives

It’s great fun to take on the challenge of a sportive with other club members. Brighton Excelsior riders take part in various events like Ride London, London Revolution, Revolve 24, Coast to Coast, Fred Whitton and The Dragon Ride. Locally we have have had large entries into events like The Puncheur, Brighton to Brighton and the Burgess Hill Springtime Classic.

Special Rides

We top and tail the time trial season with “Reliability Rides” that cover around 60 miles/100km, a distance sometimes referred to as a gran fondo. Our centenary year saw the introduction of a summer gran fondo, a full century (100 miles) and a lap of the Isle of Wight. In the past we have done night rides to London and back (pictured). If you have an idea for a ride, we can put it to the club and you are bound to get a cycling buddy if not a whole group.

Holidays

A cycling holiday offers smooth roads, challenging climbs, camaraderie, fun and some great deals. For many years, BECC members have travelled to cycle, mostly to Southern Europe and The Canaries. In recent years, the quality rental bikes in cycling friendly locations have meant you can actually trade up for a few days without having the stress of transporting a bike. It’s definitely worth it, once in a lifetime or every year. The picture is a cheat – Jim styling it out (and Domino fuming about the pushers) at the top of Hardknotts Pass on a 2-dayer for the Coast to Coast ride.
