Brighton Excelsior is hosting an Early Season Elevenses event on the 25th January 2009. At Washington Village Hall, between 11am and 1pm, I’m hoping that many of you will make it your mid-morning stop during a training ride or Sunday club run.
I hope that 2009 is full of love, laughter and personal bests, but if push comes to shove lets hope you don’t puncture!
Keep safe by keeping your head up

Well what a great start to the season 30 riders come out for our early season

What a great night, although what it did make clear to me at the finish is the
difference it makes in visibility a red LED flashing rear light makes.
My thanks go this week to the A team, who are Rick for starting, Keith for the
signs and pushing off, and to Dave for going to Hamme Farm to scoop up any
riders who went to the incorrect starting point.
Sorry about the mix up about the starting point, no excuse totally my fault, and
to Keith who had put out more signs then needed and had to go around and get
them all in before the start.
The start is really at Hamme Farm next week as the evening 10’s get under way,
don’t forget you can pay £30 for the full season, its well worth it if you
intend to do more than 12 events, after that amount its money in the bank:-)

But our grateful thanks to Mike Hayler for sorting out the verbal police permission for a 16 ½ to take place, and as we had 9 pairs and 5 solos taking part it, “it all turned out well in the end”
The weather was bright and a little blowy the wind did drop a little towards the end, mind you on the A24 there is nowhere to hide and is more often than not, hard going.

NOTE: As the road works will be going on until July, we are moving camp to the Washington course (G10/98) until 21st July. And if the road works are finished by then the last two weeks will be on the Steyning course (G10/97)
Next week start time will be 7.15pm at Washington and if anyone wants to do a 2 up that will be fine with me. Although for BECC handicap purposes it will be a regular 10.
Watch this space for news of the ‘Come & Try It’ events on the 9th June……
Sorry about all the confusion and mix up, hopefully see you next week.

That mean next week we are back on the G10/97, Steyning course starting at 7.30pm, see you in the car park.
Don’t forget it’s the Inter Club Events next week against Brighton Mitre and it’s a team event, so lets get everyone out to make it a really fantastic evening, and remember points mean PRIZES.

What a night!!!!!
Sorry about having to cancel the event on Tuesday but the weather was very uninviting
GS Stella were secure for another year from Excels brutal and relentless pursuit for success against them and will sleep easy in their beds knowing their crown is safe until 2010

Well after two weeks of having to cancel the events due to bad weather, we decided to risk the conditions for this week’s race
The rain did however keep most people away and we only had 10 riders brave the elements but they were a very enthusiastic group and all gave it their best shot.
Welcome to new member Matthew Earnshaw who joined us tonight and did his first TT ever!!!!!
We had 3 teams in the Grand Prix and although it drizzled all evening the down pour we had earlier in the day held off
All the Grand Prix results

Next week we are on the Steyning course again and we are incorporating a ‘Come & Try IT’ into our normal 10 mile event to make up for the one we had to adjust to a 16 mile one, due to road works in June, so any mums or dads who fancy a go now’s your chance, tandems, fancy dress... etc.
We only have two more events to before our 2009 evening series ends so let’s make them count
[See this TT's full results and times]     [Back to TT List]     [Back to top]
Today we had road works just as we were getting ready to set off, after a quick vote from the riders and it was decided that a 16.5 mile event would be better than either a 5 or cancelling altogether
A phone call to Mike Hayler to ask about changing the distance and he then contacted the police to arrange everything for us, so a BIG THANK YOU to him.
21 riders took part in our 3rd 16.5 mile event of the season so far, the weather was overcast but wind free which was obvious when the times started to come in.

Apology’s to Tony Reeves, he thought it was a ten and by the time he had corrected himself and got to the finish, we thought he had punctured, Keith had started to look for him up the course and I had gone back to the car park so the end result was he did not get an end result, Whoops!!!!!
My thanks this week go to Keith for pushing off.
It’s the last event next week, and I understand that the pub is also going to be visited afterwards by anyone that would like to come
See you in the car park for a 7pm start

What a smashing way to end the season
The weather was not that bad and the rain that had been trying to get a hold all morning kept away for the event
