Notes

Feb

25th February – SL Chertsey Mod Cat 4 Race

First Surrey League cat 4 race of the year saw only one Brighton Excel rider brave the appalling weather. Mike Bentham finished in the pack in what turned out to be a six lap thrash with its usual amount of crashes. Mike decided the safest policy was to be off the front & tried a break away but was closed down after a lap or so.

Mar

4th March – SL Chertsey Mod Woman’s Race

Ruth Mordrunt secured an excellent 3rd place after what appeared to quite an eventful race.

Two riders had broken away off front forcing Ruth to make a huge effort to bridge the gap to the breakaway, only to be told by the commissaries to move over to let the men’s cat 4 come through, which they did. The commissaries then promptly pulled his car in front, forcing them to slow down & allowing the group to come back together, also informing the group they had to do an extra lap!

Fortunately Ruth had strength in her legs to sprint out for 3rd.

11th March – SL Alfold Cat 3 Race

Paul Gosling’s first outing of the season in which he comfortably finished in the pack & deciding not to contest the bunch sprint for 6th downwards after feeling a twinge in his leg from an old injury from last season.

31st March – Portsmouth Cat 4 Men’s/Woman’s Race

Claire & Mike Leonard’s first race of the season with Tom Shearn making up the third member of the party. This was on a pretty boring oval track, which we raced together for 60 mesmerising laps. Claire was dropped fairly early on and Mike pulled out ¾ of way through due to some cramping & knee pain. Tom went on to come an excellent 3rd in what was a very hard fought race.

Apr

1st April – a3crg 3-Up TT – Rogate

We only managed to rustle up one team for this years a3crg TTT as opposed to three teams last year. Roy Page, Chris Hodge & Mike Leonard had quite a departure from the standard dual carriage way course as it turned out be a more continental style course, more undulating with a nasty sting of a climb at the end. Still they acquitted him admirably getting around in 1hr 14min 20sec & securing 2nd place.

8th April – SL Duns fold Cat 4 Race

This Sunday saw three Brighton Excelsior debutants, Chris Shear, Martin O’Brien & Ben Miller with Tom Shear & Mike Bent ham completing the group. Ben was hit by bad luck with a puncture on the first lap but held his own & looked comfortable riding in the pack. Again Tom was the star, coming off the final bend among the leaders & sprinting it out for an excellent second place thus securing his cat 3 license. So congratulations to Tom.

Claire was on the start line for the women’s race & being well placed coming off the final bend was beaten into 4th with only a bike’s length separating the first four places.

Roy lined up for the SL Easter Three Days Cat 3 Stage Race, in what turned out to be a tough outing for him but still good training as I’m sure he has one eye on the three day Tour of Sussex in May.

14th April – SL Chertsey Mod Cat 4 Race

Mike Bentham, Martin O’Brien & James Hodge (making his first 2007 road race start) entered the cat 4 race, with Mike B finishing joint 13th, having been up near front at the end only to be blocked out in the sprint.

Martin got shelled out on lap 3 and rode around until the bunch came back then sat in the pack comfortably for the remainder of the race.

James made the first attack of the day, just to avoid 75 wobbly fourth cats, got pulled back in by the bunch only to have a sinking feeling `literally', having to have a lap out to fix his seat post before sitting at the back to finish as he couldn't contest.

14th April – SL Chertsey Mod Cat 3 Race

In the 3rd Cats George Higgs was very active getting away once or twice but being quickly swallowed up again. He tried again on the last lap but got swamped before the line.

Paul Gosling sat quietly in the pack conserving energy but got serious cramp with 3 to go, recovered worked his way back up to the front again, then cramped again, on the last lap he got on the Mitre train but cramped again finally working his way through in agony (credited with 16th but was about 30th).

22nd April – Womens National Road Race Series – Stage 1 Nottingham 50miles

Brighton Excel ladies Ruth and Claire made their first appearance in this road race series under the invitation of Planet X – She Cycles composite ladies team.

The race consisted of 60 riders of varying abilities, from Elite to Cat 4. Both acquitted themselves admirably with some aggressive fast paced riding with both ladies finishing comfortably in the bunch sprint for the line.

24th April – SL Dunsfold Series 1 H/cap

Only James Hodge was in this one. Due to a late start the race was run as a scratch race with James trying some early breaks but was soon gathered back into the fold. Being in the company of E/1/2 etc the pace rocketed along from the start . James finished sitting comfortably in the pack.

29th April – SL Cutmill Cat 3

Roy Page entered this race with the hope he could replicate the form that saw him earn a top ten placement on this very demanding circuit 10 years ago!! Alas all didn’t go to plan with Roy loosing touch with the pack early in the race. Fortunately for Roy his uncle lives on the circuit, so after a lap out chatting to him & sorting me out some fire wood (cheers mate) he rejoined & finished the race.

29th April – SL Bletchingly LVRC Cat E/1/2/3/4

Paul Gosling entered the 'Old Mans Race' at Bletchingly & as he expected he didn't stay in the front group for long. This was a really difficult course but he won the bunch sprint in the group he was in at the end.

May

1st May – SL Dunsfold Series #2 - H/Cap

James Hodge, Mike Leonard & Paul Gosling attended this sunny but windy outing. The 4ths took off at a very brisk pace with both James & Mike competing for pream points. With the advent of being caught by the 3rds the pace accelerated. James & Mike exited out the back door into the 2nds behind, where upon exiting again after another lap. They then had to team time trial there way home from here. Paul finished in the main group with a breakaway of twelve or so crossing the line ahead of them.

5th May – SL Chertsey Mod Cat 4 Race

Mike L, Mike B, Carl, James & Martin lined up in what was an uneventful race until the last lap. Mike L punctured on lap3, then there were two crashes in last 400 yards of the race. First a big pile up on the last corner took out ten or more riders including Carl, then five riders went down in final sprint. Mike B, James & Martin finished in the pack & Carl fortunately limping in home unhurt.

5th May – SL Chertsey Mod Woman’s Race

Claire was up against four other women & they stayed as a group with little activity or attacks. The resulting sprint saw Claire gain third place.

5th May – SL Chertsey Mod Cat 3 Race

Paul Gosling finished 12th in a run of the mill Chertsey race that had its obituary crash which saw the victim’s bike summersault over Paul’s head.

6th May – Portsdown Spring Road Race Cat 3/4

The Portsdown circuit had a long climb with a very steep section towards the top. Mike L got his gearing totally wrong in the steep section & popped out the back on the first climb. He managed to catch Roy (who had also been dropped near the top of the climb), they then worked together & picked up other riders along the way, finishing approx. half a lap down on the pack.

6th May - Gorrick 100 MTB Enduro Challenge

Sally Page took park in the 2 lap Enduro event (with some VCJ riders) at the excellent venue of Swinley Forest, Bagshot - where the Olympic MTB XC will be held. Finishing 5th in the ladies was an excellent result on the gruelling 20mile course, finishing faster than her last years time, in 2hr.25m.33s

6-7th May – 2 day Womens Team International Stage Race

Ruth went to Bedford with Planet-X for a 3 stage road race held over 2 days. The racing was tough as was the weather. The field included an elite team of Dutch riders as well as a fair representation of young GB talent team riders.

Stage 1 was a 9.7 km team time trial, where Ruth’s team came a respectable 7th.

Stage 2 – held the same day after lunch, where Ruth and her team mates faced 80 km of hard racing, including horse box obstacles and subsequent crash, saw Ruth loose touch with the leading group. She worked hard with a chasing group to try and re-establish contact but the lead pack was always at a fast attacking pace. She finished this stage in the middle of the field.

Stage 3 – a horrible day in the saddle for everyone with heavy rain and wind to match and tired legs from the previous day. The Dutch team immediately set about splitting the field on the first climb. Ruth worked hard but was unable to stay with the lead group. She was left to grit her teeth and finish respectfully in the middle of the field.

8th May – SL Dunsfold Series #3 - Scratch Race

James, Mike L & Claire were in with the big boys & the pace was ferocious from the start, making all three riders loose contact with the pack, leaving them to work in smaller groups until they rejoined the bunch when being lapped & riding comfortably to the line.

10th May – SL South Nutfield – Handicap

Strong winds, lashing rain & a shortened course (including a steep climb to be repeated ten times) greeted the riders for this race. Paul Gosling rode in the cat three group chased six strong rider in the cat fours. In ever darkening light, Paul’s group was caught by two elite riders who then attacked splitting the pack before catching the cat fours. Paul, chasing in the group behind finished in 9th place for his first top ten of the season.

16th May – SL Dunsfold Series #3 - Handicap Race

Yet another cold & wet evening greeted the excelsior riders Mike & Claire L, James, Carl (cat 4) & Paul (cat 3). The cat 4s split into three groups, James & Carl in the middle, Claire & Mike in the last, with both groups soon picked up by the cat 3s. With the arrival of the E/1/2 the pace accelerated. The remaining cat 4 group was swallowed up with 4 laps to go. It was then full speed ahead with Paul being very active at the front trying to get into some break always & the other excelsior riders sitting comfortably in the pack. A special congrats to Claire for completing a men’s handicap race, finishing in the pack, anyone who has competed in this type of race will know what a great achievement that is.

18th May – SL Newchapel – Handicap Race

James & Martin were off in first group on this great little 3mile circuit. They realised the only chance was to go mad from the gun as quite a big group chasing could catch them early if they were not careful and then it would be game over on the narrow lanes.

The first two laps saw James & Martin work like trojans to get the group to work, whilst virtually everyone else sat there including about 4 or 5 riders from Redhill who just seemed waiting to be caught - Why enter a handicap?

After two laps they suddenly realised they had been tanking along and joined the party. It was mainly a real hard turn by Martin combined with James sitting up to hold the group back, opening a gap, that finally got the rest working. After that they all worked quite well despite the obligatory attacks from some of the group. The group paid the price for not getting it together earlier by getting caught by the main pack (including Paul) with about 1 1/2 laps to go. Paul looked very comfortable taking 10th in the sprint. Good effort from James and Martin, who showed attacking and strong riding, willing to risk it!

20th May – SERL Cranbrook – Cat 3/4

Today saw the racing debut of Chris Hodge accompanied by Mike L, Mike B & Roy for 5 laps (55 miles) of what was a challenging course. After a sedate start three riders broke away after the first lap. The pace quickened in laps 2/3/4 as the pack tried to close down the breakaway. This resulted in Roy & Mike B slipping off the back. The pace then slowed on the last lap as it was obvious the riders off the front could not be pulled back. The pack accelerated on the last climb toward the finish, this saw Mike L dropping back, leaving Chris to hang on to the line in the pack for an excellent first race result.

22nd May – SL Dunsfold Series #5 - Scratch Race

It was a warm sunny evening with little wind, a perfect race evening. Mike & Claire L, James & Ruth (making her Dunsfold debut). The cat 4’s were given half a lap head start but were caught on lap 2 after seeing both Mike and Ruth nabbing prime points. Mike & Claire got into an early break but pace was too high and they dropped back into the main group where Claire unfortunately punctured, too later re-enter the race after a wheel change. The race continued in the pattern of riders attacking and trying to break away only to be pulled back, this included James being chased down by Ruth much to the amusement of the rest! All four excelsior riders finishing in the pack. Well done to Ruth on her first successful visit to Dunsfold.

24th May – SL Wivelsfield – Handicap Race

The cat 4’s went off hard from the off, with a group of five going clear on the first lap, this included both James & Mike. The group drove hard but were caught with a lap go by the chasing pack. This again was the perfect set up for Paul to sprint it out for another top ten finish, this time taking 6th place (we think)?

25th – 28th May – Tour of Sussex Cat 3/4

Congratulations to George Higgs for placing 3rd on GC in this very difficult four day stage race. Format consisting of:-

Prologue – Individual Time Trail (4 mile) …… George finishing 4th
Stage 2 - Ardingly Circuit (54 miles)………… George finishing outside the top ten
Stage 3 - Dane Hill Circuit (48 miles)……… George finishing 7th
Stage 4 - Dane Hill Circuit (48 miles)………… George finishing 7th

It must be added that the last two stages were completed in horrific conditions, driving rain in a bitterly cold northerly wind, with George saying he’s never been so cold on a bike! So well done to him, a fantastic result.

29th May – SL Dunsfold Series #6 - Handicap Race

The cat 4’s Mike L, Martin, Mike B & James, who made his customary bid for prime points in the early laps, entered this cold evening race. The pack accelerated & slowed in the cold westerly wind, when they were caught in lap 5 by the 3rds, with Paul steaming through & Mike L latching on to the break managing to stay away for a lap or so. Bad luck for Mike B who punctured and to James who was held up by a crash but still got a good work out riding with the strong charging elites trying to catch the pack. Martin slipped off the back in latter part of the race when the pack accelerated with a group of seven finally getting away with three laps to go, unfortunately with neither Paul & Mike L in it.

31st May – Lewes Wanderers Evening Criterium Series #1

George, Paul, Mike B, Mike L, Roy & Claire joined some forty rides who contested the first of this evening series on 5 laps of a circuit at Laughton. George showed his intentions by taking prime points on laps 2/3/4 but the pace up the hill was too much for Claire, loosing touch on lap 2. Many riders tried to escape the bunch during the race but it was George again who broke away, however the bunch thundered into the finishing straight as one. Paul took 2nd, George 3rd & Mike L a top ten in the resulting sprint. George with his points scoring at every prime was rewarded with the overall lead going into round 2 on 7th June.

Jun

2nd June – Southeast & Central Women’s Road Race Championship

Claire Leonard lined up with 25 other ladies for this championship race for seven laps of the Ellen Green circuit……the pace was fairly high, being driven at the front by two London Dynamo & a Rapha Condor girl shelling riders out the back each lap…..Claire sitting quietly in the pack. It came down to a bunch sprint of the fithteen or so riders left……Claire tucked in behind the eventual winner Jo Meudon & finishing fifth overall & third in the southeast division. Congratulations to Claire for a fantastic achievement.

5th June - SL Dunsfold Series #7 - Scratch Race

Mike L, Mike B & Anthony Rogers took up the mantle. It was a warm night but with a stiff north easterly wind. Mike L broke away on first lap to grab some prime points. The pace was very hard with riders attacking from the start. Mike B and Anthony tucked into the front half of the pack but the pace was too fast to do any attacking. As the race progressed strong riders came the front of the pack to contest the prime points then kept going to form the decisive break away group with 3 laps to go. The pack chased eyeballs out to try and close it down, resulting in the chasing pack fragmenting in the process. Unfortunately this led to Mike L & Mike B loosing contact for the last two laps.

7th June - Lewes Wanderers Evening Criterium Series #2

With excelsior’s very own George Higgs in the lead it was no surprise to see him active at the front & taking prime points in the early laps. With most of the leader from round one keeping a close eye on each other five riders managed to get down the road on lap 3. Despite concerted efforts from all the excelsior riders & with help from Mitre & Lewis personnel the break away was never quite pulled back with John Powell taking the win & Dris Jones took the bunch sprint to move to within two points of George. with double points on offer for the final week it should make for a very interesting evenings racing.

12th June - SL Dunsfold Series #8 - Handicap Race

Paul, James & Mike B took part in this predictable Dunsfold affair whish saw the usual breakaway forming with four laps to go & rest sprint it out for the minor places.

14th June - Lewes Wanderers Evening Criterium Series #3

With double points on offer & just 2 points separating the overall leaders going into this race, it was sure to be a exciting evening. The first prime saw Driss Jones first with George second. The second prime, George took second & Driss Jones third & on prime three, Driss Jones took third and George did not score. This brought the points difference down to one point going into the final lap, with Shaun Reed carrying a 30 second lead stayed away for a fine solo win. A few seconds later the bunch revved up for the sprint that would decide the final out come. Dan Clark seemed to have done enough to take the sprint but it was Driss Jones who just pipped on the line with Paul & George taking the next two places. This gave George & Paul an excellent second & third overall & just as heartening was the fantastic team effort put in by the all the lads throughout the series. Well done to everyone.

22nd June – Hove Park Series #2

George Higgs & Paul Gosling continued their good form with a third & tenth placing respectively.

24th June – SL Dunsfold Cat 4

A small field turned out in the pouring rain for this one and with three Brighton Excelsior CC riders hopes were high for a good result. Chris Hodge and Carl Walker ensured that no breaks went away in the early laps covering every move and trying a few of their own. The race continued in this vein until a huge solo effort from Carl saw him gain 50 secs on the bunch. After several laps and with Carl still looking strong the favourites were forced to put in a huge effort eventually pulling him back. With the finish fast approaching Chris kept the speed high and made sure no one slipped off the front. All that was left was the bunch sprint in which James gained third place. Chris and Carl rolled over the line in 11th & 12th. Good Teamwork especially as this was Chris' 2nd ever road race and with Carl easily the strongest rider on the day more results should follow.

26th June - SL Dunsfold Series #10 - Handicap Race

James was the only Brighton Excelsior CC rider as some of the regulars chose instead to ride the club10tt saving themselves for several days of hard scrumpy drinking and rolling around in the mud at Glastonbury. By the final few laps all the groups had come together ensuring a very rapid last few kilometers. A strong nerve was required to maintain position as a chaotic charge headed for the line. A mass sprint saw one rider crash heavily and James finish in the front half of the bunch. The results showed a few elite riders choosing to not take part in the final sprint due to its somewhat frantic nature.

30th June – SL 4-UP Team Time Trial

Less said about this one the better. Needless to say it was a bit of a disaster. Team A (Steve, Paul, Chris, Mike L) lost the services of Chris through illness & were down to a three man team before the start. Paul punctured & the team lost approx 10 min finding a replacement wheel but by then the heart had gone out of the team in the pouring rain & they retired after the first lap. Team B (Roy, Carl, Claire, Martin) started with a full contingent but upon negotiating a fast corner they encountered two horses, both of which reared up leaving Claire (who was on the front) nowhere to go other than leave the road & stop with the help of a large tree!!! Fortunately both rider & bike are well, with rider a bit shook up & sporting some nice bruises. In summing up, neither team finished the race. Bad day at the office. Never mind we’ll get it right next year.

Jul

1st July - Welsh Dragon XC MTB Series

James and Ruth rode the Welsh Dragon XC MTB Series in the Women's & Men’s Masters Categories. A whopping climb up a rather typical Welsh Hill (Mountain) from the start then saw the riders pick their way through a muddy slippy technical section with several bomb holes; exposed roots and stones. From there it was downhill all the way to another difficult technical section and stream crossing which was quite daunting after the recent rain. Ruth used her superior technical skill to overtake series leader Kate Betts and continued to extend her lead. After three laps Ruth had won her first race ever in style. A very muddy James completed a tough 4 laps to finish.

3rd July - SL Dunsfold Series #10 - Scratch Race

It was obvious it was going to be a hard race with everyone looking like serious riders and very few `weekenders'. It was blowing a gale but the rain held off. Though it was a scratch race a small group of 4ths Women and Vets were set off slightly ahead. As they were riding as slow as they could James put in a half hearted attack and when no one would come across he headed off on his own but was denied any prime points as he was caught by a group of three half a wheel to the line. The groups soon came together and the rest of the race was one of attack after attack after attack with the field eventually splitting into several groups toward the end. Both James and Paul were up near the head of proceedings for the whole of the race, with Paul managing to slip away with a break just near the finish for an excellent 11th. James tried to go in a break with the big guns but had to watch them ride away as his legs didn't have it in them...eventually finishing in the main bunch 29th. One of the toughest evenings so far with a lot of retirements.

As of today (05/07/07) Brighton Excelsior are currently 14th on the British Cycling Road Racing Southeast Regional Club Rankings with 80 points & only 10 points behind 11th place!!! So a big well done to whole road race group & a special well done to George & Paul, who both have been prolific point scorers so far this year. Also congrats to George for gaining cat 2 status.

6th July – Hove Park Series #3

10th July - SL Dunsfold Series #12 - Handicap Race

Lovely warm evening, ideal racing conditions & good be turn out. Mike L, Mike B, James, Carl, Claire all went off in the fourth’s cat group with James, Mike B & Carl contesting early prime points. The bunch all came together on by lap 6 with Excelsior riders still active at the front, Mike L, Mike B closing down some early breakaways. This resulted in a very fast last 3 laps as riders tried to get down the road but the bunch came to the finish as one & all Excelsior riders finishing in pack.

14th July – SL Chertsey Mod Cat 4 Race

Mike L, James, Mike B turned up on the start line on what turned out to be a run of the mill Chertsey race. Slow & medium pace then ramping up for the last 2 laps. All three Brighton Excelsior riders in the top ten coming out of last corner into a head wind which coursed the pack to slow then all three getting boxed out in the resulting sprint & finishing outside the top ten.

14th July – SL Chertsey Mod Women’s Race

We had Claire & Becky Gosling (making her road race debut), lining up in a race that stayed together. Claire 2nd & Becky 3rd in the finishing sprint.

14th July – SL Chertsey Mod Cat 3 Race

Paul continued he’s good form & achieved yet another top ten finish in a race that ended in a sprint finish.

17th July - SL Dunsfold Series #13 - Scratch Race

Another evening of strong winds & hard racing. Repeated attacks, covering & closing down breakaways saw James, Carl, Claire, Mike L & Mike B doing more than their share of work in the early stages. Inevitably the race split with nine riders breaking away on lap seven leaving the rest to sprint it out for the minor places.

22nd July – SL Barcombe Cat 3 Race

Mr Gosling cracked out yet another top ten placing, finishing 7th this time. I don’t know much about the details of this race. I’m guessing it was a classic Gossers performance with himself staying near but not on the front until the final dash then unleashing his sprint for the line. This result also secured Paul’s Cat 2 status so it’s a big congrats to him.

Saturday 21st July – XC National MTB Championships

Charlie Beeny (VC Jubliee) and Ruth Mordaunt entered the XC National Championships in conjunction with the 4th round of the British Mountain Bike Series. As the middle of the country was underwater it did not bode well for the weekend. Surprisingly, we were delighted to see that summer had seemingly reached Plymouth and mud tyres were not required!

The course - An extra start loop swung immediately out of the arena picking up the actual course, before heading out into the hills and singletrack beyond to start the 8.1km loop. With a mixture of short sharp climbs combined with some technical descending, strung together with some fast flowing singletrack and a river crossing. There was one descent called the ‘Mineshaft’ that was technically hard; steep, muddy with smooth stone underneath providing no grip. So imagine, if you remained upright, riders were ‘fish tailing’ at speed, with no run out! A real spectators spot during the race.

Youth Men With a strong field of 30 riders in this category, Charlie rode a solid race and finished 18th.

Master Women Ruth rode strong and was a serious contender for a podium finish at her first National Championships. Unfortunately a crash at the Mineshaft descent on lap 1 and 2, cost her a podium finish and came 4th. However, she is still ranked 2nd BMBS Master Category and 3rd in the National Female Master Category rankings. The next national race in September is crucial as all could change.

28th July – SL Chertsey Mod Cat 4 Race

James & Mike B made the journey for this one. James had the full Chertsey experience. He was in a great position for the sprint as a couple of strong guys started it off and he was on their wheel – perfect, then the guy next to him just went down and came straight underneath him. Next thing he knew he was bouncing down the tarmac. He sat up and saw there were about 4 or 5 of guys on the floor. He was ok apart from the usual grazes etc. The guy who went underneath him was in a bad way though. James walked across the line to ensure Brighton Excelsior got as many Surrey League points as possible like the pro he is. Mike B got himself into good position coming out of the final bend but again got swamped out in the sprint.

Aug

07th August - SL Dunsfold Series #22 - Handicap Race

Another good turn out from the boys in the yellow & blue with Dunsfold stalwarts James, Mike L, Mike B accompanied by Ben Miller & new member Graham Rees making their Dunsfold debuts. All Excel riders’ started out with the fourths fighting it out for early some prime points. Ben dropped back & used the cat 2/3 group to bring him back into the fold when the pack merged into one. Meanwhile Mike L punctured & rejoined the race just as some fierce attacking was happening, with him getting caught on the wrong side as the pack split into several groups along with Mike B & Graham. This left James & Ben to finish in the lead pack.

11th August – Ken Warren Older Man’s Race – Scratch

At last some warm, sunny racing weather for Mike L, Mike B & George to take their place with the old gits. If they thought they were in for a easier time than normal they were surely mistaken! The race went off like a bullet with an early breakaway being driven by the British Masters Champion amongst others. For the first couple of laps George was riding strong near the front of the chasing pack but bad luck struck & he punctured. For Mike L & Mike B being in such exulted company it was very much a case gritting the teeth & hanging on. By lap three the break had gone down the road & the pace slowed only to accelerate again on lap five as more riders tried to get away, which they finally did by lap seven. For the remainder of the race the pack slowed down to a training ride pace (result of everyone being knackered) & apart from a brief sprint for the line that was about it.

14th August - SL Dunsfold Series #23 - Scratch Race

Not much say about this one. Poured with rain through out. Early hard attacks meant the pack fragmented into small groups which Mike B, Mike L, Claire, James & prospective new member Tim mixed into. Everyone finished cold & wet but we stopped for a celebratory pint on the way home to mark the end of the Dunsfold series.
