This is to going to go towards helping Matt Howard cover his amazing trip to Peru in July 2006.
Matt has been selected to take part in a BSES - British Schools Expedition Society (a youth development charity) trip to Peru in the Cordillera Blanca ('White Mountains') - Peru's rival to the Himalayas! The expedition will last 4 weeks departing mid to late-July taking them deep into the heart of the Andes to an area few visitors are ever likely to reach. He is then taking part in an exciting environmental research project with the local university and National Park in Peru. The project will involve research into geology, pollution from old workings, ornithology and field ecology. As there are not many records from this area, their studies are likely to be published and recognised as fact in these scientific fields.
Also on the night we are going to be offering every rider the chance to buy an action picture of him or her self taken during the race by Mike Anton (East Grinstead).
Most of you doing Open events will be familiar with Mike’s superb photos, which he posts regularly on his web page.
So to be apart of this excellent opportunity to have a great time with everyone from BECC and VCJ plus help a young cyclist have a trip of a life time and get a great photographic memento all for £3.50 (normal race price £2 if you don’t want a photo) all photo monies will go towards Matt’s trip.
