26 April

Here we are again I can’t believe the new season is here already in fact looking at the date its only 8 months and it’ll be Boxing Day (Ahhhhh )
We had a great turn out for the 1st our event with 25 riders, of which 14 riders are from the club
George Higgs won with 23.46 (sorry what’s that all about doesn’t he know about Easter eggs and over indulgence) 2nd Charlie Parsons with 23.53 (breaking news watch this space) 3rd Paul Gosling 24.22, and 4th Stuart White 24.38
Tom Shearn (V. C. Jubilee) 26.02, Andy Attwood 26.19, Steve Flowers 26.21, Adrian Robins 26.25, Bob Harber 26.29 (he’s off to do the End to End so good luck to him) Chris Hodge 26.30 (he’s a new member so extra well done to him) Alan Bowry 26.58, Stan Cox 27.29, Chris Shearn 27.55 (Tom’s dad just about to join us, so well done and welcome), Keith Balcombe 30.06
BEST OF THE REST
Steve Woodbridge (Southdown Velo) 22.07, Chris White (T. M. Racing) 23.34, Phil Wise (G. S. Stella) 24.03, Mike Anton (East Grinstead C. C.) 24.14
It was also great to see some new faces and one old face return to the sport Lawrence Clifford come out to watch and will hopefully be rejoining us next week the and Congratulations are in order as he is now engaged with the wedding planned for next May, I’m looking forward to it already.
It was also our first event following the new Risk Assessment rules and this is something we are going to have to all help with over the next few months and I will be calling on all of you at some time or another
As part of that RA, I’d like to say a big thank you to Roger Huges for marshalling at Shoreham RAB, and Keith for putting all the signs out and taking them all in again afterwards it adds almost an hour to his evening and with out this I’d be in the poo.
So far I have enough marshals for all the events up to the 17th May, so I need members to come forward and offer to help with 24th May onwards
Keith has volunteered to marshal as well as put up the signs, but I think this is unfair, and the entire burden can not rest with just a few members, so I’m asking that we all pitch in and help
I will bring along the master file next week and I would really like to sort out most if not all the events then.
Risk Assessments are here to stay and if we want our sport to continue we have to comply with the rules.

3 May

2nd event of the season has been and gone and a very good turn out with 26 riders, 13 from the club weather was very overcast but the rain held off and the low cloud did make is warmer that I thought it was going to be.
Mike (I’ve been on holiday and haven’t lost any form) Murray won with 22.56, Charlie (I’m going to be a new dad) Parsons 2nd with 23.49 Lawrence (welcome back to the club after 6 years) Clifford 3rd 24.38
Roy Page 25.45, Tom Shearn 25.45 (WOW! a tussle and one to watch), Stan Cox 26.15, Martin Potter (a new member well done) 26.17, Alan Bowry 26.33, Adrian Robins 26.38, Chris Hodge 26.53, Chris Shearn 28.08, Neil Garrett 29.46 Keith Balcombe 29.57
BEST OF THE REST
John Limpus (G. S. Stella) 22.14, Stuart Tarry (Team Sajon Design) 22.35 Dan Paine (B’ton Mitre) 22.58
Looks like we have some youngsters to watch over the season which is great and some new racing members which is fantastic!!!
Don’t forget I need help with the marshalling so PLEASE see me after next weeks race or phone me and volunteer without marshals there is no event!!!
Trying to get a photo of the riders for the web page/Echo I had to result to blackmail no results were given out until I’d taken the shot ‘cos last week by the time I’d got the camera out most of the riders had gone home and before the race its like trying to catch wiggerly worms with soapy hands getting everyone together, be warned I will have the camera out again, and new tricks to play on you all.

10 May

What a funny old night, grey skies, hail stones, raining at Shoreham , but for the duration of the race - dry and almost no wind and the air felt fresh and clean and full of oxygen and the road was fast and slick, so the 30 riders that took part in the fun had a good ride
Times were good too with Mike Murray winning with 22.26 (30 secs quicker than last week) Charlie Parsons 2nd with 23.45 and 3rd Lawrence Clifford 23.46 - WOW just 1 sec in it
Paul Gosling 24.07, Tom Roberts 25.10, Rob Luff 25.22, Martin Potter 25.25, Chris Hodge 25.32, Roy Page 25.41, Tom Shearn 25.46, Steve Flowers 25.53, Keith Balcombe 26.46 and Mike Bentham 27.13.
My grateful thanks go to Roger Hughes who has been marshalling for us down at Shoreham RAB and without whom there would have been no races for the last 3 weeks.
Now we come to the bit where I ask again for some help! The risk assessments will not go away and we need marshals for all races from the 31st May, there will be NO RACES AFTER THAT DATE if I don’t get some help
Rick, Roger, Val, Keith, Dick and Roddy have all offered so far and that’s a big start, but its not enough, I need help EVERY week, and on the Washington G10/98 I need 3 marshals
From now on I don’t think we will have a pusher off as I need to redeploy Rick into the ‘field’ as a marshal (Steve Woodbridge (Southdown Velo) has offered to be our guest pusher off next week)
Maybe riders from other clubs that join us for a race could offer to go off later in the field and help with the pushing off
Sorry I don’t want to end this week with a nag, its just that I would be very upset if because of a couple of marshals our season had to end prematurely, what about:-
Wives/husbands/girlfriends/boyfriends/parents/neighbours/friends/enemies/work colleagues/people that owe us money/ people that we owe money too/anyone with a pluse!!!!!!!
We all must know someone that could help out just once a season, please let me know a.s.a.p. if you can help in any way.
And on a good note to finish our membership is growing steadily so we are the CLUB TO JOIN!

17 May

We had a really great turn out last night for our 16 ½ event with 31 riders, 15 of which were from the club, and the weather was bright with a little wind but nothing these guys couldn’t handle, and when the sun was out it was lovely and warm, mind you when the sun went in it was blooming cold
The whole evening felt like FUN last night everyone seemed in a good mood, with jokes and smiles everywhere I looked, this is what makes cycling such a great sport and B.E.C.C. such a good club and me keep turning up every week (thank God for the video recorder though I must say!) you all make me feel like I’m spending an evening out with my best mates
1st Mike Murray 39.01, 2nd Charlie Parsons 39.58 and 3rd Lawrence Clifford 41.48
Stu White 42.10, Paul Gosling 43.03, Roy Page 43.45, Chris Hodge 44.19, Adrian Robins 44.25, Andy Attwood 44.46, Martin Potter 44.55, Stan Cox 45.14, Alan Bowry 45.27, Keith Balcombe 46.31, and Elaine Scott 50.51, Neil Garrett DNF
BEST OF THE REST
Tristan Davenne (Elite CC) 36.29, Kevin Shaw (Crawley CC) 39.44, Chris White (T. M. Racing) 40.14.
Thanks to our guest pusher off this week Steve Woodbridge (Southdown Velo) Dick Jones and Rick and Val Stringer for marshalling
Well done everyone I understand that some riders did not know it was a 16 ½ and only found out on the line, I think they need to buy a Yellow Handbook and I just happen to have a few left for sale at a very modest £1.75 each, .
Don’t forget we are using the G10/97 Steyning course next week due to road works on the Findon RAB so see you on the line
Also I be asking for accompanying riders for our ‘Come & Try It’ event on the 14th June soon so be warned. Yes I know what your thinking “its always something, does she never give up” and you’d be right I don’t!

24 May

What a really windy evening but at least the wind kept the rain away from us, some of the guys said when they arrived that it had been raining when they left work in Hove and Lewes
And the turn out was lower than we have been getting with only 18 riders braving the weather
1st Mike Murray 23 02, 2nd Charlie Parsons 23.53, 3rd Pete Mitchell (V.C. Jubilee) 25.11
Stu White (birthday boy) 25.23, Roy Page 25.39, Chris Hodge 26.53, Bob Harber 26.59, Tom Shearn 27.17, Keith Balcombe 27.32 Chris Shearn
BEST OF THE REST
Dan Paine (B’ton Mitre) 23.24 Kevin Shaw (Crawley CC) 23.46
Our thanks this week go to Adrian Brown (Steyning AC) our guest pusher off, Stan Cox for marshalling at Shoreham RAB and Rick Stringer being the start timekeeper, and Keith B for putting the signs out and picking them all up afterwards as usual
PLEASE can I make a timekeepers plea, could the race numbers be pinned a little lower down the back as when you’re bent over the handle bars at the finish its very hard to read unless its near the base of your spine, and I would hate to miss someone’s time because of that.
Don’t forget it’s the 2 up next week, so start thinking about who you want to race with. Starting at 7.15 at Hamm Farm.

31 May

Phew! What a lovely evening weather wise, little breezy but bright and quite warm.
It was our 2 up and with only 3 pairs was not our greatest success of the season so far, but the times were good so that more than makes up for the lack of numbers.
1st was father and son team Tom and Chris Shearn 25.16, 2nd Richard Clowes and Jem Kelly 26.08, we also had one mixed club team of Rob Luff (B.E.C.C) and John Limpus (G. S. Stella) 22.38
Solo riders:
1st Charlie Parsons 23.32, 2nd Martyn Potter 25.11 and 3rd Chris Hodge 25.52.
Adrian Robins 26.12, Stan Cox 26.41 and Keith Balcombe 26.51.
Best of the Rest
Dan Paine (B’ton Mitre) 22.44, Jay Chisnall (B’ton Mitre) 25.14
Thanks go to Rick for start time keeping, John and Dick for pushing off and Roger for marshalling at Shoreham RAB.
Next week we are still on the G10/97 Steyning course and the following week its our ‘Come & Try It’ so I’m looking for accompanying riders for the 1st race which is the 3.5 mile for the juniors starting at 7pm, you can use it as a warm up for the following 10 mile T. T.
I still need 1 pusher-off and 2 marshals for 21st June on the G10/98, one for the Washington RAB and one for the Washington slip road (that’s if we are able to use the G10/98 course, cos of the road works) I’ll keep you informed of how they are going.

7 June

Cancelled - road resurfacing

[See this TT's full results and times]     [Back to TT List]     [Back to top]

14 June

Firstly I would like to apologise again for the cancellation of last week’s event due to roadworks. This week however it turned out it to be a bright sunny evening although the wind grew steadily and was really quite blustery by the end of the evening, and although the road resurfacing from last week was still very much on everyone’s mind we had no problems reported with it. We had 3 junior and 6 senior ‘Come & try It’ riders and everyone seemed to have a good time.
Come & Try It - 3 ½ Golden Jubilee race
1st Ben Dobbin (V. C. Jubilee) 9.37, 2nd Becky Gosling (V. C. Jubilee) 10.40 and 3rd Oliver Brennan (Brighton Mitre) 10.47
Come & Try It - Senior 10 mile race
1st Anthony Pope 26.59, 2nd Peter Emmerson 27.36, 3rd Daniel Fagg 28.10, 4th Ben Barford 29.39, 5th Nick Rose 29.51 and 6th Karen Jenkins 34.11
CONGRATULATIONS to everyone taking part in this annual event, which is a great introduction to our sport, let’s hope we see some of you back for another go in the weeks ahead.
Main 10 mile race
1st Mike Murray 23.10, 2nd Charlie Parsons 23.37 and 3rd Paul Gosling 23.51
Tom Shearn 24.25, Stu White 24.44, Martyn potter 25.06, Chris Hodge 25.43, Peter Mitchell (V. C. Jubilee) 25.52, Adrian Robins 26.04, Chris Shearn 26.14, Steve Flowers 26.20, Keith Balcombe 26.47 and Elaine Scott 29.14
BEST OF THE REST
Dan Paine (Brighton Mitre) 22.45, Jay Chisnall (Brighton Mitre) 25.45
I would like to thank Peter Western from Worthing Excelsior this week’s guest pusher off
Thanks to the dads who accompanied Becky and Oliver and to Keith who rode with Ben, standing at the finish line I would hear Keith encouraging Ben before I could see them and it paid off as he won the event.
Thanks also to all the other B.E.C.C. member who came out and were willing and in various states of readiness, if needed by any other junior riders, Rick Stringer for timing the start and John Roberts for sorting out the confusion with the numbers
Val and Roger for marshalling at the RAB’s, we would not have any events without these unsung hero’s
In the end it was a good event and I have every confidence that the future of this great sport looks rosy if the caliber of come & try it riders is anything to go by.
Now next week we are heading to the Washington course G10/98 for the first time this season, so lets hope we get a good turn out, 7.15pm start, as you know we need 3 marshals for this course and I am still looking for volunteers for the 5th July and 19th July no marshals means no events
Also if you would like to be our ‘guest pusher off’ of the week please let me know
Last but not least we are missing our no. 37 race number it was last used on the 8th June 04 by Marcus Stanhaiger from Brighton Phoenix if you know him can you ask him if he still has it, (I’m clutching at straws here) cos if he doesn’t, I’ve really lost it and will have to make another one.

21 June

Well the longest day turned out to be a beautiful one, and the good times by the riders were a refection of that. We had 27 riders 14 from the club so that’s very encouraging.
1st was George Higgs 22.17, 2nd Charlie Parsons 22.4 and 3rd Chris Lord 22.51
Tom Shearn 23.23, Paul Gosling 23.27, Keith Balcombe 24.18, Roy Page 24.21, Chris Shearn 24.34, Steve Flowers and Chris Hodge both did 24.34, Stan Cox 24.36, Adrian Robins 24.52, and Michael Bentham 25.28 Neil Garrett DNF
BEST OF THE REST
Steve Woodbridge (T. M. Racing) 21.36, Dan Paine (Brighton Mitre) 22.00 Adrian Brown (Steyning A. C.) 23.41
My thanks to this weeks marshals Roger Hughes, Mike Murray, Andy Attwood and Val Stringer, Start timekeeper Rick Stringer and it was a real DIY pushing off week, thanks to everyone who helped, with Peter Western (Worthing Excel) doing his fair share, and to Keith Balcombe for putting up and collecting the signs
And bI understand that Adrian Robins tried a bit of “off roading” at the start, just missing Rick
We are looking for a guest pusher off from next week so please let me know if you’re interested, don’t forget you can push off and ride the event you just will be last man off
And talking of next week it’s the joint ‘Inter Club’ event with Brighton Mitre so let’s make it a good one, last year the weather was against us, so I’ll keep my fingers and toes crossed for next week
I am looking for marshals at Washington and Ashington for 5th July, so PLEASE don’t be shy in stepping up to the line

28 June

Our 2nd annual Inter Club with Brighton Mitre was a great success with 13 Excel and 2 Mitre riders supporting the event + a host of others. The weather was better than last year although windy it was very warm and one good thing at least the wind kept the rain away, it was funny the wind was blowing one way through the trees and yet the clouds were moving in the opposite direction. 23 riders join in the fun and the winning times were fast despite the conditions
1st Dan Paine (B’ton mitre) 22.05, 2nd Chris Lord 22.51, 3rd Mike Murray 23.15, 4th Charlie Parsons 23.35
Peter Mitchell (V. C. Jubilee) 24.52, Keith Balcombe 25.06, Steve Flowers 25.40, Stan Cox 25.43, Chris Hodge and Bob Harber 25.57, Mike Bentham 26.18, Paul Gosling 26.21, Robin Johnson (B’ton Mitre) 26.50, Neil Garrett 28.03 and Elaine Scott 29.02.
BEST OF THE REST
Steve Woodbridge ((T.M.Racing) 23.07, David Reeves (T.M.Racing) 23.33
Thanks to Rick Stringer start timekeeper, John Roberts and Ray Smith (B’ton Mitre) for pushing off and George Higgs marshalling at Shoreham RAB and Keith for the signs
Its always nice to see my old friend Arthur Rayner and we sit at the finish catching up on all the gossip, and as you might already know I do like to chat.
Poor old Mike Bentham was a serious victim of road rage, when on Sunday morning he was out on his bike near Ditching Having just been clipped by a motorist, he gestured to him his displeasure, when the guy then proceeded to force him off the road Mike went over the handle bars and was badly bruised and bleeding, THEN the bloke actually got out of his car and threatened to beat him up, but when he saw the state of Mike laying on the road and the large amount of blood, he changed his mind and drove off I tell you all it’s a bad world out there and you must all be very careful, even on a Sunday morning car drivers are in a mad tearing hurry, and I would hate to loose any of you.
Next week don’t forget we are on the G10/98, Washington course as we now have enough marshals to cover our commitments
I am now looking for 2 marshals for 19th July, at Washington RAB and the Ashington slip road; look in your diary’s and let me know
We are also looking for a guest pusher off for next week, if anyone is interested just let me know

My thanks go to Rick Stringer for start timekeeping, and Ian Essex for pushing off and Roger Hughes for marshalling at Shoreham RAB.
I’m still looking for marshals and pushers off, for future events, so anyone keen to help out please get in touch.

19 July

Weather wise it was a little breezy for this weeks outing although the rain which looked like it was threatening to come most of the afternoon never arrived so we all got home in the dry
24 riders turned out which is great it’s much more fun if there’s a crowd
1st Mike Murray 22.35, 2nd Charlie Parsons 23.34, 3rd Tom Shearn 24.10
Paul Gosling 24.37, Chris Shearn 25.11, Andy Attwood 25.26, Roy Page and Simon Roberts 26.27, Bob Harber 25.34, Chris Hodge 25.38 and Elaine Scott 29.20.
BEST OF THE REST
Dan Paine (B’ton Mitre) 21.43 Steve Woodbridge (T.M.Racing) 22.23
Thanks this week to Rick Stringer start timekeeper, Roger Hughes, Dick Jones and Pete Parsons (great to see him again) for marshalling and Keith B for putting the signs out and taking them back in.
Welcome to Bruce Samuel 29.53, a new potential member who rode as a private this week but we have high hopes that he will join the club next week.
I’m OK for marshals for next week, but with Rick and Val on holiday, I would like to know if anyone feels like helping me by start timekeeping on the 26th July, or I’ll have to limit the number of riders to 22, that will give me enough time to get from the start to the finish line, if you go last man off you do the time keeping and ride as well.
I do however need 3 marshals and a start time keeper for 2nd August.
Does anyone want to be the ‘guest pusher off’ for next week?
Please let me know if you feel like helping me out over the few weeks.
Together we make this club the best in the county if not the country

26 July

“Water water everywhere and not a drop to drink”, you just know that when the hose pipe ban is brought in the rain is sure to follow a week later, happens every year!!
What a difference a week makes it was horrible last night and the 18 brave souls (12 from B’ton Excel) that turned out all deserved to be winners
2 Up results:
Andy Attwood and John Limpus (G. S. Stella) 24.27
Roy Page and Alastair Carter (V. C. Jubilee) 26.36
Elaine Scott and George Vargha ( Steyning A. C.) 27.26
Solo results:
1st Mike Murray 22.44 (which just goes to show that the weather makes no difference to the fast men). 2nd Keith Balcombe 24.56, 3rd Steve Flowers 25.54
Chris Hodge 25.56, Alan Bowry 26.18, Anthony pope 26.35, Nick Houslop 28.48, Adrian Scott 29.24, Bruce Samuel 29.49.
BEST OF THE REST
Dan Paine (B’ton Mitre) 22.06, Roger Smith (V. C. Etoile) 22.42 and Ben Barford (V. C. Etoile) 28.20
It was really good to see some of our new members out last night, if they come out to play in the rain then they must be keen.
Extra big thanks this week to John Roberts for start timekeeping and Keith Balcombe for the signs which is a horrible job in the dry and a real bugger in the rain.
Next week I still need one marshal at Findon RAB if anyone knows anyone with an hour to spare, let me know.
Don’t forget to get your entries into Keith Balcombe for our OPEN 25 event on 7th August.

02 August

Well the last Washington event was a great success we had 33 solo riders 14 of which were from the club and 1 tandem and the weather was lovely and warm but a little windy for the really fast times.

BEST OF THE REST
Dan Paine (B’ton Mitre) 21.11, Steve Woodbridge (T. M. Racing) 21.46 and john Limpus (G. S. Stella) 21.48
Big thanks this week go to all the marshals Dick, Roddy and Stan and an extra big thanks go to Keith who not only put all the signs out and got them in but pushed off and did the start timing.
DEE PAYNE - I would like to add a special mention today about Dee Payne (G. S. Stella) who’s funeral service was today, she was a truly exceptional person and our love and thoughts go out to Andy, Roz and Phil and her family.
The Downs Crematorium was packed to capacity and there were still more of us outside in the sun, just wanting to be close to her one last time, the whole service was beautiful and Andy’s tribute was the most moving I think I’ve heard.
The story’s afterwards about Dee, her generosity of sprit, kindness and loving nature flowed like vintage wine and I felt proud to have known her, she touched so many people’s lives in so many different capacities and we all feel better for knowing her and calling her a friend.
And to finish:-
Well next week is our last evening 10 of the year, so lets make it a ‘biggy’ and guess what; I have all the marshals, pushers off and timekeepers a girl could possibly need so lets just enjoy the evening and all have a safe and speedy ride.

7 August

What a super day, with the bad weather of last week just a distant memory, although it was reportedly windy on the way back.
We had 79 riders enter and even though there were a few non started, the quality of field was fantastic with almost ½ the entrants capable of doing under the hour.
The G25/93 is a very sporting course and if you can do a good ride on it you know that you’re a fast rider.
And it was great to see some old friends as well as some new faces on the line, with the Crawley CC having almost a club outing there were so many of their riders taking part.

The winner was Michael Coyle (V. C. Etoile) 54.29
2nd Graeme Stirzaker (Angliasport) 54.54
3rd Keith Coffey (Bec.C.C.) 55.44

Our riders came 17th Rob, 18th Chris, 40th Stu, 44th Roy, 45th Chris, and 56th Michael

CLUB 25 CHAMPIONSHIP
The winner and new club champion is Rob Luff with a 1.00.12,
2nd Chris Lord 1.00.16
3rd Stu White 1.05.32
4th Roy Page 1.06.37
5th Chris Hodge 1.06.57
6th Steve Flowers 1.08.37
7th Michael Bentham 1.10.24
Bob Harber DNS, Mike Murray DNF, Charlie Parsons DNF and Alan Bowry DNF

Updated news on Charlie Parsons who came off his bike on the A24, he clipped the curb and went over the handlebars and was very luckily that there were no cars coming at that moment, but he still managed to break his collar bone, so will be out for the rest of the season, GET WELL SOON MATE! We miss you.
Keith would like to thank Mike Kilby (Lewes Wanderers) for timekeeping, the marshals Dick and Andy on the Shoreham RAB, Chris at A24 junction and Val and Vanessa for running the canteen, and everyone for taking part in what was a very enjoyable morning.

And a great big Congratulations to ROB LUFF our new 2005 Club 25 mile Champion.

9 August

Well what a super evening weather wise to end the 2005 evening 10 season.
It really felt like a party at the start with everyone wishing there was just one more event.
We had 39 riders our best number this year, 20 of which were B’ton Excel which was fantastic turn out.
1st Mike Murray 22.18, 2nd Chris Lord 22.32, 3rd Tom Shearn 23.59
Andy Attwood 24.21, Roy Page 24.32, Paul Gosling 24.40, Steve Flowers 24.59, Martyn Potter 25.00, Stan Cox 25.05, Chris Shearn 25.25, Adrian Robins 25.36, Chris Hodge 25.38, Michael Bentham 26.23, Trish Stewart 26.28, John Scott 27.19, Elaine Scott 27.47, Adrian Scott 27.58, Alastair Carter (V. C. Jubilee) 28.41, Nick Houslop 29.12, Keith Balcombe DNS
BEST OF THE REST
Dan Paine (Brighton Mitre) 21.25, Steve Woodbridge (T. M. Racing) 21.56, Mark Paton (Sussex Nomads) 22.22
My thanks as always go to all the people throughout the season without whom I could not run these events. - The marshals, pushers off and timekeepers and Keith for the signs.
Tonight’s stalwarts were Roger Huges at Shoreham RAB John Roberts start timekeeper, Rick and Dick pushing off.

Well the seasons over and all we have to look forward to is the Hill climb on the 16th October 11am start
If you still feel like racing on a Tuesday night then for the next 3 weeks I’ll be timing the Brighton Mitre evening 10’s on the G10/99, it starts and finishes in Wineham Lane which is off the A272, 7pm start so look forward to seeing you there.

And finally its been a good season BUT the marshalling and signs have been a real test and next year they will be COMPULSORY so we will not have any choice about it at all - no signs or marshals - then really no event.
I’m going to have to introduce a planned rota system for the marshals with EVERYONE having at least one go each during the season, and if you can’t or don’t want to do your turn it will be up to you to find a replacement.
The signs are just too much for one person to do week in and week out so I WILL be looking for extra help for Keith, either putting them out or taking them in every week, he has done “over and above the call” this year, he has stopped enjoying the events and that’s not fair on him.
Over the winter the CTT will be meeting and all the feed back that the clubs have been asked to give in connection with the club events throughout the area will be discussed and I’ll report back with any new developments.

So its just left for me to say enjoy the rest of your racing season its been a real pleasure spending my Tuesday evening with you all and I hope see you very soon.

16 October

Well I can’t think of a better day to end this season club events, the sun was shinning and the breeze was soft and warm, and the turn out of spectators was brilliant just what the riders need to help them up the climb.
It was smashing having three V. C. Jubilee riders joining in the fun, and also three women all racing members of the club, GREAT!
And a real pleasure seeing Pete and Charlie Parsons, its been a while since we saw Pete and he’s looking really fit and trim, so next year I’m hoping to get him back on the start line, at least for a couple of events, and Charlie back on his bike again, since his accident, he still has a stiff shoulder and his hip is numb but even all that did not keep him from doing the hill climb.
We had 13 riders and the times were very respectable.
1st George Higgs 4.55, 2nd Mike Murray 4.56, 3rd Alastair Carter (VCJ) 5.34
Roy Page 5.37, Charlie Beeny (VCJ) 5.44, Bruce Samuel 5.58, Charlie Parsons 6.02, Tom Grant (VCJ) 6.06, Michael Leonard 6.51, Elaine Scott 6.53, Sally Page 8.05, Claire Leonard 8.34
BEST OF THE REST:
Dave Stone 5.54.
Well done to new members Claire and Michael Leonard who both did excellent rides.
My thanks go to Rick for timing the start and Keith for pushing off.
