Tuesday 1 January 2003 - 10m Steyning - SPONSORED RIDE

Happy New Year to everyone! We started the year 2003 as we ended 2002, very wet and cold. Dave Fletcher's car got stuck on the grass verge and after much unsuccessful pushing and shoving by Keith and me, had to be pulled out by a very nice tanker driver, but not before he slipped over in a puddle and got covered in mud, which was not funny at all! 9 very hardy competitors turned up to take part in what can only be described as a challenging morning. Dave Fletcher won the event with a very creditable 24.41, Charlie Parsons was 2nd with 25.21 and Keith Balcombe came 3rd with 25.51. Paul Gosling was 4th on 28.07 and 5th was Alan Bowry snapping at his heels on 28.36, Roger Hughes was 6th on 33.30, & Bob Harber was 7th with 30.49. The newly married Bob Harber had the honour of being our first man off, and then went straight back home to help his new wife Colette get the food ready for us all to enjoy after the race. Thanks Bob & Colette for a very enjoyable lunch it was great to see old friends and super to see Simon and Caroline Birnstingl and their new daughter Lily, she is so pretty and a real smiler and congratulations to them, as they have also recently got married. THE BEST OF THE REST Dave Clark (Brighton Mitre) 27.06, and Dominique Clark (Brighton Mitre), 40.47 although she did have some mechanical trouble. Don't forget our next club event is on the 22nd April 2003, starting at 7pm on the G10/97.

Tuesday 22 April - 10m Steyning

What a super evening the weather was lovely, warm with a slight breeze, which did nothing to lessen the enthusiasm of the riders, everyone was champing at the bit to get under way, and I did a brisk business, yellow handbooks, standards and subs, and you all know that I love to collect money! Mike Murray was on top form and won the event with a 22.52, what does this man eat for breakfast???? 'Cos I want a bowl of it. But he still managed to run off with his number, rest assured I WILL track him down and get him to return club property!! Charlie Parsons came 2nd with a very respectable 23.03, 3rd was Robin Harris on 23.29, 4th Paul Gosling 24.04, 5th was new man Jon Hayes doing his first race 24.33, (well done to him and welcome), 6th Neil Garrett 24.46, 7th Stan Cox 25.32 and 8th Keith Balcombe 26.49. BEST OF THE REST Phil Wise G.S.Stella 23.01, Clive Jackson Central Sussex 25.02, and Steve Flowers (we like him) Central Sussex 25.43.

New for 2003 we are now running a standards programme it is only £5 to enter for the year and you are then eligible to compete for GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE standards. All club and open events count towards getting your standards, but you MUST let me know your results and show me a copy of the result sheet or get the timekeeper to sign to confirm you time. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE.

Tuesday 29 April - 10m Washington

Hooray we are back on the G10/98, what a treat after last year, and trust me to park by the only puddle! The weather was threatening with a real front coming up but in the end stayed nice and dry, we had a good field with 18 riders. Mike Murray won the event with a 22.14, I tell you he will finish before he starts at this rate! 2nd was Charlie Parsons 22.32, and in 3rd place Dave Fletcher on 23.20, with Paul Gosling snapping at his heels on 23.37. New man Jon Hayes is really going well on 24.16, just in front of Stan Cox 24.47. Alan Bowry 25.11, Keith Balcombe 25.16 and Neil Garrett 25.18, I tell you there was not a 'fag paper' between them, with Ian Essex on a 25.50 and Elaine Scott, who missed her start broke evens on 29.20. BEST OF THE REST We had a 3 up of G.S.Stella riders, Mark Jones, John Limpus and Steve Garen who did a impressive 20.26 You would be surprised to know how hard it is to get the guys to stand still long enough for a photo, and then get them all to look the same way, but I have never been one to shirk a challenge, and there should be a team shot on the photo's page, make note everyone, my camera is going to be very much in evidence this season! Val Stringer was seen clearing the boot of her car out, so watch out Rick it could signal a trip to the garden centre is imminent. My evening was made by selling a road jersey to Jon, and only when I had made sure that no one else had any spare cash for me to take, did I head home.

Tuesday 6 May - 10m Steyning

Well the good weather certainly brought out the rider's tonight, 28 a full field for us and everyone welcome. We met some new faces from Steyning Athletic Club, and a Tri club from Crawley, all keen to race in the sunshine. It was good to see some old friends as well, Martin Penfold, Tristan Court and Eric Bonner, also Matthew Bagwell new to the sport and keen to race, let hope he comes back for a 2nd go!!! Stan had his new wheels in and the new bike looked very pretty, which I have to say, turned into a Kodak moment! Mike Murray won the event with 22.56, Charlie Parsons, 2nd on 23.26, and 3rd Dave Fletcher 23.37. Jon Hayes 24.28, Stan Cox 25.03, with Neil Garrett only 3 seconds behind on 25.06. Ian Essex did 27.04 and Keith Balcombe 27.05 just one second behind. How close is that!!!!! And the Scott's made it a family affair with John 29.23 and Elaine 29.44. BEST OF THE REST Tristan Court (B'ton Mitre) 21.48, and Steve Geran, (G.S.Stella) 21.49, again just one second between them, it was a very exciting night all round. It's a 16 ½ next week it's a sporting course but well worth the challenge, starting and finishing at Hamm Farm, 7.15pm start

[Back to TT List]     [Back to top]

Tuesday 13 May - 16.5m Steyning

What a night before we started we had hailstones and rain, and the sky was as dark as sin! Although during the race the rain did hold off and most people got round with only intermittent showers, it was enough however to keep the numbers well down on last week with only 13 hardy souls coming out for what is a very sporting 16 ½ mile circuit, starting and finishing at Hamm Farm. Charlie Parsons was our top man tonight with a super time of 40.11 with Paul Gosling 2nd on 42.40, it was lovely to see Simon Roberts who came 3rd with 44.09 as we haven't seen him out for ages. Neil Garrett did a 45.24, Keith Balcombe 46.34 and John Scott 54.13, poor John was cold at the start and cold at the finish, he just could not get warm and had a miserable ride, I think Elaine had the right idea she came out took one look at the black sky and went home (I have always thought she was a very sensible woman). Rick was given his instructions to come out and 'push off' for us, from Val phoning from Lithuanian, on being told that it was raining here she said "That he had loads of expensive wet weather gear and to put some on" (you have to admire a woman that can rule from abroad!). BEST OF THE REST Tristan Court (B'ton Mitre) 37.47.

We try and do lots of different courses throughout the season so that the riders don't get board racing the same roads, and if you think that we are getting it about right, let us know, likewise if you think that we should try something else tell me and we will try to accommodate your ideas into next season race programme.

Tuesday 20 May - 10m Washington

Another night another race, but at least the wind, which blew all night kept the rain away. Charlie Parsons was the golden boy tonight with 23.31; Dave Fletcher 2nd with 23.48 and 3rd was Robin Harris 23.50. it was nice to see him out and racing, its been too long. Paul Gosling 24.56; Neil Garrett 25.43, Keith Balcombe 26.21; and Roy Page 27.49. BEST OF THE REST Tristan Court Brighton Mitre 21.50, and again the G.S.Stella lads did a 3up Mark Jones, John Limpus and Steve Seran 20.45. It's the Addicombe 3up this weekend and Charlie Parsons, Keith Balcombe and Paul Gosling are going to be riding as the Brighton Excel team. Good Luck Lads! Don't forget to let us know how you get on.

Tuesday 27 May - 10m Steyning - 2 up

What a night we had! A full field with 10 pairs and 7 solos, a big thank you to John Roberts for coming out and starting the event without him I would have been in trouble. We were lucky with the weather as well, it looked like rain, but the clouds just rolled on by, although it was quite gloomy and for next year I will start the event a little earlier. But the times were very impressive with Mike Murray and Charlie Parsons paring up to win the event with 22.31, Keith Balcombe and Roy Page came 2nd with 26.37, and the Scott boys John and Adrian 3rd with 28.10. We had a couple of mixed club pairs Paul Gosling and former club mate Paul Cooke 24.12, and Elaine Scott and Joan Lennon 28.39. In the solos Dave Fletcher 23.40, Alan Bowery 26.14 and Bob Harbour 28.30. BEST OF THE REST Steve Limpus and Steve Geran (G.S.Stella) 20.37 and Phil Wise and Steve Woodbridge (G.S.Stella) 22.31 and Tristan Court (B'ton Mitre) did a solo time of 22.37. It was lovely to see Pete Parson who came out on his motorbike just to say Hi to us all, he is doing loads of leisure cycling, but has decided not to race this year.

Tuesday 03 June - 10m Washington

Another dry night, I am starting to feel blessed (I know I know! what a big mouth). A good turn out 21 riders and judging by the times a good night the air felt very clean and oxygenated after the resent rain. Mike Murray stood on the winner's podium tonight with a 22.00 (lazy devil he should have pushed for the line I hear you all say) 2nd was Charlie Parsons 22.51 and 3rd Jon Hayes 23.59 Neil Garrett 24.44 and Alan Bowry 24.48, Roy Page 25.55 and Keith Balcombe 25.58 it seems to be a season for close results with just seconds separating riders. The Scott's had a family outing with Adrian doing 26.51, Elaine 27.54 and John 27.56. BEST OF THE REST Tristan Court (B'ton Mitre) 21.02 and Phil Wise (G.S.Stella) 22.15. And the tandem effort of John Limpus and Steve Geran (G.S.Stella) 19.32 impressive or what! Thanks to Rick and Stan for the start and our old friend Arthur Rayner (Addiscombe) who helped me at the finish, he has been timing events longer than most of us have been born and its great to see him out and about after recent ill health. Where would the sport be without the older members, marshalling, timing and doing the teas? Deep in the pooh, I say.

After a rousing team talk I think we are all looking forward to next week's 'Come & Try It' event. Come and either accompany a junior or race your self, or just for a chat with old friends we would love to see you there.

Lastly I must tell you about Mike Murray new personal best time, done last week on the G10/98 at Worthing evening 10, it was an amazing 21.19 what a smooth and talented rider he is. Congratulations to him. If he had entered for the new BECC standards he would have a GOLD certificate now!!!!

Tuesday 10 June - 3.5m and 10m Steyning - COME AND TRY IT!

The 'Golden Jubilee' 3.5 mile event was won with a new course record, Matthew Howard (VC Jubilee) our 2002 winner, broke his own course record with an impressive 9.07. Here are the results:

Don't forget you can enter our 10 mile 2up on 22nd July which is incorporating a 'Grand Prix De Gentleman' style race with one junior rider and one senior rider, and the junior rider MUST stay on the front, get you mum, dad or club rider to enter with you.

BEST OF THE REST Jay Chisnell (B'ton Mitre) 24.10

I would like to thank all the accompanying riders who then went on to race themselves Jon Hayes, Anthony Rogers, Charlie Parson, Roy Page, Neil Garrett and Keith Balcombe, that's what I call a warm-up.

Also I would like to apologise if the signing on took longer than I first thought, I sort of lost myself in the paperwork, but I will do better next year. Also to Bob and George who came very late, I should have been more relaxed about it all, put it down to concern about the event going well! Thanks to John Roberts, Sally Page, Rick & Val Stringer and Keith Balcombe for the cup and the sweeties, where would I be with out you guys?

Lastly I must say the biggest THANK YOU to Andy and Martin from The Bike Store, Worthing; the each junior riders got a water bottle and an energy bar, and the winner got a bike computer.

Some pictures to follow soon.

Tuesday 17 June - 25m Ashurst

Our evening 25 went well, with 13 riders joining in for what was a warm but windy evening. Dave Fletcher broke the hour with a super 59.43, well done to him, Charlie Parsons 2nd with 1.00.55 and 3rd Neil Garrett on 1.06.42. Paul Gosling 1.07.39, Roy Page 1.11.40, Keith Balcombe 1.12.02 and John Scott 1.18.54.
BEST OF THE REST Tristan Court (B'ton Mitre) 56.44, he puts his good form down to loose living, a diet of custard pies and dolly mixtures, so that's a lesson to us all!

John Scott was tired after doing the Royal Windsor Triathlon Event on Sunday 15th June, with a 1 mile swim in 29mins, 25 mile bike race 1.14.55 and a 10K run in 1.01.00, Elaine also did the event, but details of her results are unavailable, but talking of Elaine she is on her way to The European Triathlon Championships in Karlsbad in Slovakia which are taking place this coming weekend, so we all wish her the very best of luck, I'll try and get all her results for next weeks update.

Date for your dairy Christmas lunch 14th December at the Windmill in Littlesworth see Rick for more details.

Tuesday 1 July - 10m Washington

The whole evening it threatened rain, but actually held off until the last man had finished racing and we had started to pack up, which was great, and we had some fast times. Mike Murray won the event with an amazing 22.07, 2nd was Dave Fletcher 22.37, 3rd Charlie Parsons 23.04, 4th Jon Hayes 24.07, (which was good as he was in two minds whether to ride or not as he was feeling very tired). Neil Garrett 25.32,Roy Page 25.39, Ian Essex 25.53, Keith Balcombe 26.24, Elaine Scott (Golden Girl) 27.56 and John Scott 28.03.
BEST OF THE REST Chris Lord (In-Gear) 22.15.

We have had some sad news just lately about friends and club mates being injured while out racing and riding, the news about Phil Wise (G.S.Stella) is looking better with him being out of Intensive Care with a broken jaw, broken cheek 5 broken ribs and a cracked vertebra, and we hear this week about Pete Knight one of our older (in all senses of the word as he is well into his 70's and has been in B'ton Excel for years) club mates having an accident near the Hammerpot last week, he has 2 broken legs, 1 broken arm and loads of cut and bruises, and also spent 5 ½ hours in surgery. The amazing thing is that both Pete and Phil have ended up in the same Critical Care Unit in Worthing Hospital being looked after by Dr from the Doctor Love & His Disciples and a nurse from Worthing Excel, and Dr. David Uncles from Worthing Excel. in Intensive Care Unit, what's the odds of that then, I can't imagine what they find to talk about!
My best advice to you all is please don't ride with your heads down, and make sure that it's safe to cross the main roads, car drivers just don't see us and when they do they just can't judge the speeds you guys go at.

On a really positive note to end this week, we have photos coming soon of Elaine Scott proudly wearing her GOLD MEDAL which she won at the European Triathlon Championships, 45+yrs ride what's called a Sprint Distance and Elaine did it in 1.03.03 the swim 750m in 15.35, the bike ride 13 miles in 46.43 and the 5k run in 25.01. WELL DONE we are all very proud of you.

Sunday 6 July - 25m Ashurst - CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

What a super morning, even at 7am it was nice and warm with almost no breeze. 12 people joined us for our club championship but only 5 BECC. members, so not a great turn out. Mike Murray last year's winner retained his crown with a 1.00.26; photos will hopefully soon be on the site. Charlie Parsons did a personal best and came 2nd with 1.00.29. Paul Gosling was 3rd 1.05.55 and Keith Balcombe was 4th on 1.16.22 and I'm sorry to say that Jon Hayes did not finish as he had a slow puncher.
BEST OF THE REST Carl Whitaker (V.C. Etoile) 59.01 and Clive Powell (Crawley C.C.) 59.37. Thanks to Stan for pushing off .

We had a real treat this morning when Amanda Parsons brought little Emily down to watch her dad finish, Emily at just 21 months is our youngest member and is going to be a real heart breaker when she grows up.

Don't forget to get your entries in to Keith Balcombe for the Club Open on 3rd August, it's NOT pay on the line, and afterwards let Dick Jones know if you are going to come to the club picnic and BBQ, a good time is had by all.

Tuesday 8 July - 10m Steyning

What a fantastic evening 29 riders and everyone in a good mood. Charlie Parsons won the event with 23.14, and 2nd was new man George Higgs with a super 23.35, and 3rd was Jon Hayes 24.18. Roy Page 26.59, Bob Harbour 27.04, Keith Balcombe 27.07 and Elaine Scott tired from a tri event at the weekend 28.57
BEST OF THE REST Tristan Court (B'ton Mitre) 21.59, on a family outing to the lay-by, it can't ever be said he never takes them anywhere!
Andy Attwood is doing a great job of filling in all the pot holes in the lay-by and hopefully will start on the big one at the end by the sign post next.

[Back to TT List]     [Back to top]

Tuesday 15 July - 10m Washington

It was another lovely warm night and again the whole mood was relaxed and friendly, must be the sun bringing out the best in us all. We had 20 riders and some very good times.
Dave Fletcher won with 22.00 and 2nd was Charlie Parsons 22.25(PB), and 3rd Jon Hayes 23.42. Roy page 25.22, Keith Balcombe 26.01, Stan Cox 26.52, Elaine Scott 27.58.
Adrian Scott was unsure before the start were the turn was and did in fact go off course, going to the next roundabout, I don't think he will make that mistake again.
BEST OF THE REST, Paul Jones (In Gear) 21.32 and Steve Woodbridge (G.S.Stella) 21.40.
Latest News on Pete Knight is he is still in the Critical Care Unit at Worthing Hospital, with fluid on his lungs, but otherwise quite bright, and Phil Wise, has been moved to Hurstwood Park. God luck guys.
Much love to Val Stringer who had a small op., and is feeling a bit under the weather, get well soon.
But I feel I must tell you about Neil Garrett, only a B'ton Excel rider could end up in hospital having stitches in his leg after an accident in his garage! He fell off his turbo while training and badly gashed his leg "and he was sober". It could only happen to Neil!
Thanks to Roger Hughes for pushing off, he only came out to say hello, that'll learn him.
I was very ably assisted by the next generation of timekeeper's Sarah Uncles (G.S.Stella) who at 8 is very good at maths, and got almost all the times correct, I will have to keep on my toes or I'll be out of a job.
DON'T FORGET it's the 2 up next week.

Tuesday 29 July - 10m Washington

Sorry because of bad weather the race was cancelled :-(

[Back to TT List]     [Back to top]

Sunday 3 August - 25m Ashurst - OPEN EVENT and BBQ

The weather could not have been better for the BECC Open 25 on the G25/93, we had hoped for the new course changes to be finalized before the event but due to technical problems we had to use the original course, so I was worried about the start and finish points, but I needn't have been all went very smoothly. The hall was very small, but we had French windows, which we opened and gave the place a very nice summery feel.

The winner was Michael Coyle (V.C. Etoile) 55.17, 2nd Paul Woodman (Eastbourne Rovers) 55.47 and 3rd Tristan Court (Brighton Mitre) 57.25

Vets 1st Harry Featherstone (Eastbourne Rovers) with a +21.52

Ladies race was won by Angela Nainby (East Grinstead) 1.03.56

Top team was V. E. Etoile with 2.54.34

Brighton Excelsior riders did very well with Mike Murray 59.49, Charlie Parson 1.00.07 (ooh so close!) Jon Hayes 1.05.47, Simon Roberts 1.07.22 and Neil Garrett 1.09.27 well done guys.

Keith would like to thank Rick Stringer for pushing off, Val Stringer for signing on and running the canteen, Sally Page for helping in the canteen, Dick Jones, Chris Beckingham, Stan Cox and Andy Attwood for marshalling, Su Balcombe and Mick Kilby (Lewes Wanderers) for time keeping.

The picnic and Bar-B-Que could not have been better, super food, all the veggies and potatoes came from Dick's allotment and Jean must have worked like a mad thing making platters of the most delicious tasting salads, and more French bread than any of us could eat.

It was especially good to see so many VC Jubilee members Mathew, Ben and Andrew Dunn (just back in action after a broken arm), who all rode out with Sally to join with their families there and John the music man kept us all entertained.

There were no games this year, so I had to be content with just eating and drinking, in the true spirit of being a Brighton Excelsior member.

Harry Featherstone and his wife joined us again, and its good friends like this that make the sport so enjoyable, and it was great to see Adrian and Ruth with their three children Grace, Joel and Simeon. Also Sarah and Amber Roberts and Linden and Ayla with their tiny new born son Erym only 4lb's, and the most beautiful little face and head of dark hair you could wish for, making the whole afternoon one of family fun.

But the biggest thank you of the day must go to DICK JONES who yet again has organised us, looked after us and given us a really super afternoon, and even arranged the weather this year, we really can't ask for more from a club mate!

Next week is the last event of the evening 10's and I will be working out (or possibly Keith if I can persuade him) the winner and fastest rider of the series, so watch this space for the results.

I can't believe that another racing year is almost over. The times are just flying by; we still have the hill climb to look forward to on 12th October, and the pub lunch afterwards, then CHRISTMAS!!!

[Back to TT List]     [Back to top]

Tuesday 5 August - 10m Steyning

We could not have had better weather for the last race in the BECC evening series. 36 riders turned up in the end and some good times were recorded.

Mike Murray was our golden boy again with 22.38, new man George Higgs was 2nd with an excellent 23.43 and Jon Hayes was 3rd with 24.28.

Paul Gosling 24.30, Charlie Parsons 24.45 (three riders with only 17 seconds between them) Neil Garrett 25.22, Bob Harbour 26.27, Stan Cox, 27.07, Adrian Scott 27.09, Roy Page 27.13, Keith Balcombe 27.51, and Elaine Scott 28.28

BEST OF THE REST Steve Geran (G .S. Stella) 21.38, John Limpus (G. S. Stella) 21.59, Tristan Court (B’ton Mitre) 22.10

Thanks to Rick for pushing off and John for starting, and for 8 year old Craig Handley (Arthur Rayner’s great grandson) for number taking.

Well its just left for me to say don’t forget the Hill Climb on 12th October @ 11am start and afterwards in the pub for lunch.

Christmas ride and lunch, and our annual dinner dance, all these details and much more will be posted on the web page before too long, so keep logging on to see what great things we have in store for you all over the winter months.

Wednesday Club Nights should start back in earnest next week, although I should say they have been going all summer, but what with racing and the track the numbers have been dwindling a little, don’t forget our club is more than a group of guys meeting at the side of the road once a week for a race, its outings, clubs nights, social gathering and supporting each other all year, this is what makes clubmen into friends.

COMING UP SOON Training runs, most Sundays with a rolling choice of 3 starting points, monthly seminar’s I’m sure that Roy has some informative and entertaining tips on how you can all improve your style and speed, plus our fantastic Virtual Reality races and training nights are not to be missed, and back if the demand is sufficient circuit training, We try and have something different going every week, so that there should be something of interest for everyone.

Update on Pete Knight, he is having the plaster on his arm removed next week, but not the ones on his legs yet, he has been moved to Southland’s Hospital in Shoreham on Coral ward, and would love to see anyone for ½ hour for a chat, and if you are thinking of a gift to take, he is very keen on chocolate for when he gets the mid-night munchies.

Also news of Bob Harbour’s next long trip he is doing the P B P (Paris-Brest-Paris) race, starting I believe on the 15th August, which is approximately 750 miles round trip and he hopes to do it in under 89 hours, he has promised to write a few words when he gets back so we will hopefully put the high lights on the web page

The Duo de Normond weekend is coming up on the 27th & 28th September, it’s a great chance to race on closed roads in France, a full report will be coming to a web page near you very soon.

Thanks to Sally Page for all her hard work on the BECC web page; I hope that you agree with me she does a great job, it’s both fun and very informative to log on to.

I hope to see most of you on the starting line before too long as the open season still has a few months to run, so take care and keep your head up!

Sunday 12 October - 1m Steyning Bostal - HILL CLIMB

Well here we are again
The Hill Climb weather was bright & clear with a tail wind so it was a perfect hill climb day. 10 riders turned up including a potential new member Dave Stone who is a student at Sussex Uni., so we could keep him for at least 3 years.

The club hill climb record of 4.56 held since 1999 by Tom Roberts was broken not once but TWICE. Mike Murray broke it first with an amazing 4.46, and just when we all thought things could not get any better, last man off Robin Harris broke it again with 4.45 what a day! Excitement all the way, I was horse from shouting at the top of the hill.

The full results are as follows:- Robin Harris 4.45, Mike Murray 4.46, Charlie Parsons 5.11, Simon Roberts 5.20, Ian Essex 6.37, Elaine Scott 6.44 & Malcolm Law 6.47

Best of the rest
Roy Install (Morgan CC) 6.22, David Stone (Private) 6.35, Robin Johnson (B’ton Mitre) 6.36 and George Vargha (Steyning AC) 8.12.

Well after this fantastic end to our very full season of evening & morning events I only have to say, do keep logging on, as there will be details about the Club Christmas bike ride and lunch coming up soon, and also our Cyclo Cross event in Wild Park is not to be missed!!! all this and a new ‘For Sale’ corner is coming up soon on the web page.

We have news of Pete Knight, he has left hospital now and is in the Burrs Croft, Nursing Home in Shoreham, so is well on the way to a full recovery, don’t forget he would love to see anyone for a few moments, and chocolate is always welcome.

And news of Phil Wise (G.S.Stella) he was seen out and about at an event recently and is on the road to recovery slow but sure, and our good wishes go out to him and his family for a full recovery.

I have not heard how Bob Harber got on with his Paris-Brest-Paris ride on 15th August, come on Bob spill the beans! dish the dirt! lets have some gossip!!!

The Duo Normond sounded a real laugh, with a bit of everything in it, including Keith getting drunk, annoying a few people and then falling out of the window, (luckily his room was on the ground floor and he was VERY relaxed so not hurt) I think we all would like to know MORE! Including some times & pictures, come on get the details to Sally Page our web page manager.

On the 22nd October at 8.30pm at our regular weekly club night at the Adur Outdoor Activity Centre in Shoreham, we have a Sports Psychologist coming to talk about the importance of metal attitude in the planning and preparation in sport, we welcome anyone to come and join us for this interesting and insightful seminar, a small charge will be made to cover her expenses.

Lastly I hope you all have a super Christmas and accident free New Year Look forward to seeing all on the line at 11am on 1st January 2004.
